In petrochemical service the medium usually decides the specification. Corrosive, viscous and crystallising process fluids each push the choice a different way, and a standard instrument that would last years on plant air can fail in weeks on the wrong duty.

The medium comes before the instrument
Corrosive, viscous, crystallising or solids-bearing media all point to a seal rather than to a tougher gauge. Tell us what is in the line and we will specify from there.
Fill fluid is chosen for the ambient
A seal assembly is one calibrated unit, and its fill fluid has to suit the real temperature range. Long capillaries make the temperature effect worse, so we keep them as short as the installation allows.
Standardise to reduce exposure
Every extra variant of the same instrument is another stock line and another lead time. Consolidating across a plant shortens both.
