Reading an NTN number

NTN writes its seal and shield codes differently again, which is worth knowing when a bearing is being matched across brands. These are the codes on the NTN bearings we hold.

Code	What it means
LLU	Contact rubber seals on both sides. Keeps contamination out, at the cost of a little friction and speed
LLB	Non contact rubber seals on both sides, for lower torque or higher speed
ZZ	Steel shields on both sides
C3	Internal clearance greater than normal
